Today Ava is 2 years 7 months old. She turned from baby to toddler in the
blink of an eye. And now every day she becomes more of a little girl who thinks
and talks for herself. In the last month she’s added a bazillion words to her
vocab and picks up on new words and phrases just like that (snapping
sound).
Just today Elizebeth reported that she has started singing with her. I sing
to Ava all the time, usually to request. But she’s never sang along. Apparently
she has an incredible cute singing voice. I can’t wait to her it. She has also
become much more interactive with the shows she watches. Take Dora for example;
before she’d just watch the show and later in the day perhaps talk about it or
say phrases she heard etc. Now when Dora or Boots talk to the viewers, Ava will
respond. She’ll take the Spanish she learns and interchange it with the English
words. Quite amazing.
My favorite new aspect of Ava now is how much she loves her little sister.
She’ll help her out by giving her toys or getting in her face to make her
laugh. She knows she’s the big sister and that she has lots of fun
responsibilities.
So babies and kids all do things differently. Levels of advancements or
growing out of things will differ from kid to kid greatly. For example, the age
at which a toddler jumps out of a crib, thus promoting them to using a bed
instead, ranges from like 6 months to 4 years. Ava has never once tried to
leave her crib. Not once. I’ve been feeling it’s getting time for her to advance
to the next stage. Tuesday night I took her bed out of the crib (to change the
sheets), but instead of putting it back, I laid it on the ground to see what
Ava would do. She immediately said she was tired and wanted to go to bed (it
was bed time). She laid down and I put her blanky on her. She was quite happy.
Then she said, "time to get up!" Elizebeth mentioned today that Ava
requested the bed to be taking out of the crib. So this weekend I’ll be
converting the crib into a toddler bed. I’m very excited. Stay tuned for how
things go!

Today Audrey turned 9-months old! Zoom zoom the time goes by. This morning I took her into her 9-month checkup. Here are the stats:
Weight: 24 lbs 1 ounce (100th percentile)
Height: 29.5 inches (97th percentile)
Head: 45.1 cm (75-90th percentile)
In the last month, Audrey…
- has become exceedingly good at sitting up on her own.
- has developed very good hand to eye coordination. If she sees something she wants, she goes for it.
- got to spend lots of time with Grandma Jeanie; very exciting!
- pulled herself up on her knees by herself. She’s on the verge of crawling.
- has found more reasons than every to love her big sister Ava. Ava loves to help out and give Audrey toys to play with or assist in letting us know what food Audrey should eat. Audrey is starstruck by Ava and Ava just adores Audrey.
We love you Audrey!

Over the weekend I had the privilege of witnessing Audrey pull herself up on her knees for the first time. This is one of the important steps before crawling starts. How exciting! Go Audrey go!
